You're a handbag in Book Two

My father used to call my sisters and me luggage. He never explained it and being kids we never understood that it was a metaphor. He was carrying us through life. We were his burden.

We used to laugh and make fun of it. Saying to each other, “you’re a handbag!”
“You’re carry-on luggage.”
Hahahaha

I’m living for a future, a possible future where I don’t have responsibilities, one where I don’t have luggage.
Now I get it.
(What took you so long?)

The way we set up the house is that we are like guests residing in the walk-out basement. We did this because we are trying to break free of the two dependants – the designer handbag and checked baggage.

I am 7 weeks back from Taiwan with about another 7 weeks to go before I pick up and leave for Kelowna BC. I’m only travelling through. This is a stopover. After 7 weeks in Kelowna, it will be back to Taiwan for me.
