I had an appointment at SimonMed for a CT can this morning. As Larry is on his way to Kansas, I had to use Uber. I had a hard time with their app and couldn't figure out how to schedule my ride but I eventully did and made it to my appointment on time. Getting home was terrible as I selected a WAYMO fully autonomous vehicle. I should have selected another vehicle because it was driving along the main streets and then through residential areas, finally dropping me off more than a mile from my home. I started walking, not sure where I was. I finally met a guy and asking him where my street was and he said that I was walking in the right direction. It was already 100 degrees, maybe more. I continued walking towards home. There was no shade on the sidewalk. I was stopping several times, not knowing how far I was from my home or if I was walking in the right direction. I actually passed my mobile home park.
Finally, I found a business and walked into their waiting room and asked the young man behind the desk. He said I could rest there and gave me two bottles of water. I rested there for a few minutes and finally decided to try to get another Uber ride. Fortunately I was able to schedule one. The young man behind the desk was able to flag down the car. I thanked him and was able to get a ride home. I will NEVER take a WAYMo ride again!
