Days Off Should Not Be This Productive in Ponderings of the Universe

Blarg. Today was just not a good day off. I would have rather gone in and done rotation stuff.

I did get to sleep in, which was much needed and I I had a slow start this morning, but then I spent nearly 5 hours watching a 2 hour long lecture and digging up many of the scientific papers the speakers talked about. This would have been so much easier if they had put a fucking references slide at the end of their presentation. But no. And it’s not like they were mentioning all the studies very clearly so I had to get some creative search terms on. I ended up with 19 papers but there were some I could not find or figure out how to search for and an handful I didn’t have access to. Pisses me off. I only get one day off per week on this rotation. The great majority of it should not be spend doing doing projects. Grump.

Doesn’t help that Harvey has not been having a good potty day. He pooped on a pile of dirty laundry and then again on a stack of Aaron’s clean shirts that were draped over an arm of the armchair by my bed. Actually, I’m kind of impressed by the second one. He must have had to perch precariously and aim carefully.

Wits last night was wonderful, though perhaps not quite as amazing as last week. Hari Kondabolu did some great standup and OK Go performed acoustically, which was fun. The two had a great insult war going on between them which was highly entertaining. Towards the beginning of the show, OK Go had some technical difficulties and they said that whenever technical difficulties happen, they have to do a scene from Les Miserables, so two of the members sang a duet and it was hilarious! During intermission, I bought tickets to last week’s show, with Keegan-Michael Key and Bhi Bhiman. It’s the last show of the season though I think they typically have some spring shows, so I know what my extra money will be going toward next semester :P

Blerg, I should go try to find some resources on the other project I’m working on. I’d really like to have a draft of some sort done by Monday. I work tomorrow but apparently weekends this time of year are really slow so I may have several hours to myself midday. I want to finish up the thing I did today and maybe get some writing for the other project done. We’ll see. I really just want to learn and not be passed other people’s assignments that I’m not interested in.

Aside from my assignment complaining, I am really enjoying this rotation. I mean, I had my thumb inside a Golden Eagle’s mouth yesterday. Freaky! I get caught up in the moment when I’m doing my tasks but when I take a step back and remember what I did during my day, I’m kind of amazed. Just getting the opportunity to handle these animals is a privilege. It’s also kind of funny to slather lotion on the feet of an animal I’m in awe of, like a Bald Eagle. An interesting dichotomy.

Must go attempt to be productive. Boo! Boo-urns!
