My mom was an Adventist who taught me to consider the likely possibility that the pope is the antichrist. This is why I know about parts of the bible about the end of the world. Reasonably, these apocalyptic sections are about the legends of Hebrews that contain their feelings about the Roman empire. So it makes a lot of sense then, after we get the Roman Catholic church, the Vatican in fuckin ROME would resemble the supposedly prophetic descriptions of the antichrist. And my mother deduced, must be the pope!
So, you see, the fun thing about looking for deeper meeting in these kooky prophecies is that human history is eerily repetitive. I am an atheist, I do not believe anybody was talking to God, but I have thought about spirits and haunting as memes, movements and politics, cults, in and out-groupings, the unconscious acting of some unknown but permeable whole albeit changing intangible bodies, with substances and boundaries nonetheless.

My mother, unfortunately the most informed Christian I know. At least, on this surprisingly narrow criteria: the bible and text literally in it. (and also how it relates to “recently” discovered contemporary works in dead sea scrolls.) If you have read A Song of Ice and Fire or Mistborn or whatever the fuck, you might be surprised to learn the bible is much smaller. And possibly less confusing!! If you read the bible a few times (I have) and memorize a few things you can one-shot nearly any boomer in an argument, if it goes there. Although the Skeptic’s Annotated Bible sure took me to the next level, my mother basically taught me how to do this.
The tragedy of it is, she thought she was teaching me how to win in Christian infighting with the power of the bible alone (actual fundamentalism, lol)… but if I ever really believed the Christian God was real I’d probably turn on him. He sucks. I hate jealous gods!! Learn to work on a team and share the spotlight, you fucking asshole!!
Contradicting a pious boomer with bible quotes is so fucking funny. More of you need to read the bible to humiliate them on their own terms. They don’t read it!! I promise you it’s so fucking easy. With a bit of reading you have a weapon which can wreck your racist uncle emotionally. If you are lucky, turn your entire family against him. Jesus loved the immigrants, the poor, the prostitutes, he turned the money tables, etc.
Anyway, the kinda person you’d probably picture as a USian Fundie Xian is apparently suggesting to Laura Loomer they must elect “our” own pope to protect “traditional beliefs and the bible,” when the pope is so plausibly an/the anti-Christ…if! you first accept the conceit of this misguided attempt to make anything literal out of something like Revelation.
So I guess I’m an atheist biblical fundamentalist, here to tell you the fundamental meaning of Daniel & the Revelation and its anti-Christ: is the ancient Hebrews resentment for Ancient Rome from where these ancient oral traditions came. Facts and logic, if any one man can be the anti-Christ, must be… the pope! take that liberals! or magas! or whatever, whoever you are, even a fucking atheist, I beg you, DO. NOT. LICK THE BOOTS OF THE ANTI-CHRIST. GAWD.
Christians, my conclusion I hope will hearten you. The antidote to the anti-Christ or the anti-Pope if you will, is obviously, Christ. What would Jesus do? Protect the fucking immigrants!! Rebuke your racist uncle!! Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, go pray in the closet, ignore all appeals in the pursuit of power and glory, money is the root of all kinds of evil, love your neighbor, don’t covet his wife, etc etc etc.
Also, just a note, I think you should find a God who isn’t so jealous. that’s just me though, you do you.
The bigger note, it’s a demand really, definitely clean up your fucking community or at least humiliate and shun these Christofascist neo-Nazis. Yall in the churches clearly don’t bully Nazis enough. Petty bullying & righteousness is the most nonviolent way forward at this point. But it takes subtlety to do it good, and it doesn’t happen overnight, so work on it starting now. Hopefully, there are still many Christians on the side of the collective moral good who will by throwing the bible around do great psychic damage to fragile neonazi egos.
Even so, at the end of the day, I gotta wonder, for better or worse– can anyone who believes in heaven after death be anything but a nihilist?? Can they really be in this struggle for the good of our limited time on this Earth? My mother, to her credit I think, although she is a duelist (most Christians are) she is more materialist than most. She wants a heaven on earth, that’s why she hopes it will end soon.
Incidentally, she could be right about the world ending soon! Man, in a dumb way she’s kinda lucky. Imagine, if there were a heaven, how jealous the Millerites are of my mother.
If you are Christian, I am sorry, but I hope you understand under Christofascist conditions, the political force of Christianity in US politics deserves insult. And I will be lumping yall in together because I hope that sucks for you. I hope you hate it. I hope you are ashamed of them enough to be humble at least. but even better, do something about it. Don’t wait for the FUCKING ANTICHRIST TO DO IT FOR YOU OMGggggggggg
