Water Heater in Life in General

So I got a second quote on a water heater replacement and they want $7500. Yeah take a freaking hike dude.

The water heater I’m interested in is expensive, about $1500. Assuming they don’t get a bulk discount rate, that means they want $6000 to run electrical, run a short PVC drain for the condensate, and swap out some copper fittings (oh and dispose of the old unit). Yeah I’m good.

I’ve decided I’m gonna buy the unit directly, and then do as much as I can on my own. If I get stuck, that’s when I hire a plumber. It’ll suck if I screw it up but it’s in the garage so the water damage would be minimal, so it’s low risk. The only real risk is telling my wife we won’t have water for a while haha.
