Weight Loss in Life in General

I just finished my 7th week of weight loss last Saturday and I’m down 23 lbs.

I don’t feel like I look a lot different yet (I should have taken some before photos honestly). But the next 23lbs should be VERY noticeable, because that’ll put me just below 200lbs. I haven’t been that weight since covid.

This medicine truly is a miracle drug. It just makes me care a lot less about food. I used to think about food 24/7. Losing weight was truly a miserable experience, and yet I forced it so many times but that’s why I just gained it all right back within a year. That’s why I affectionately called it my “skinny vacations”.

It’s interesting how it makes me feel. I still like to eat, but it just makes food less enjoyable. So I look forward to it a little less, which helps me snack less. And then when I do eat, even just small amounts of food make me feel miserably full. I’ll go to bed thinking “damn I fkd up, I ate too much today” even when I just ate like 5 bites of food haha.

Now something to remember is that I still have to make good choices. If I just ate whatever food I wanted I’d lose weight but much less and more slowly. The medicine doesn’t do totally do the work for you, just makes it MUCH easier to make the right choice. I eat smaller meals and cut a ton of sugar out and eat salads and protein shakes mostly.

It is awful how expensive it is. Even with compounding it was $2,000 for a year’s worth of the medicine. And name brand would put it at $13,000 a year.

I’m telling you this right now.... if compounding truly does go away I’m gonna have to find a way to pay for it because I don’t know if I can go back to the way I was. Wegovy does have a patient assistance program that can make it cheaper, but it’s still $600/month. Great. (/s)

My first goal weight is 175 (we’ll see if I need to lose more once I’m there). So that means I still have 48lbs to lose which puts me about 1/3rd of the way there. I can’t believe I allowed my weight to get that bad this time. So if I keep up this pace I’ll be there around July/August. That’s pretty good! Just in time for the end of beach season haha.
