The most surprised I’ve ever been . . .

was finding out ‘The Boy’ (a term I use loosely now that he is 18, lol) was a boy, lol.

When we went into round two of adoption, there was a little girl we had started to inquire about, she was younger than daughterchild by a year and had some significant developmental issues, surprisingly not unlike the Boy’s with learning. I had even started buying a few things with her in mind.

Then one day her social worker called and asked for another home meeting, nothing unusual in that, another step forward we hoped. She brought our social worker with her and then proceeded to tell us about the Boy.

I sat there saying, ‘a boy? really a boy?’ I just couldn’t comprehend that we were going to have a brand new baby boy, well just 4 weeks old when he came home.

Not much else surprises me, but that certainly was one of the best surprises ever.
