New diagnosis now includes Meniere’s and MAV. Back and forth we go on this one, right?

Here’s the scoop:

Late in December, my sister reported to me that one of her dearest friends used to suffer from the worst migraines. She’d tried everything from specialists of every kind, to a wide range of drugs, and spent $$$ on therapies that never worked.
THEN…she went gluten-free, and within a few months, she was down to a migraine every now and again instead of the daily, skull-crushing she’d once suffered.

On January first (just happened that way), I went gluten free. I was a bit skeptical, at first. Gluten-intolerance or susceptibility usually comes with some kind of rash and/or intestinal upheaval. I experience neither. That, and our situations were a bit different, but I figured that if I could, at the very least, cut down my migraines, I’d be better off.

Not only did it cut down my migraines, but my joints quit hurting. My dizziness reduced to the point that I have almost forgotten I have 2 vestibular conditions. And - I lost nearly 40 lbs.

It has ben 6 months now, and except for maybe 3 short-lived incidents (fell to the floor at work), I consider that my Meniere’s and MAV are under control. How can I be sure this isn’t spontaneous and unrelated to gluten? If I cave in to a slice of heavenly pizza or some other gluteny stuffs, I will usually wake up the next morning, dancing with my dizzy-demons.

Minding my gluten, controlling my salt intake (NO pickles - NO processed meat…omg!) are doing the trick. And to think we’ve spent more than $10K on specialists and drugs over the course of 28 years.......

I have another friend here that had issues, not like yours, but when she went gluten free they all went away!

Wow. I've got a friend on here who is suffering recurring migraines. I wonder if this could be it for her as well.
