Quite Literally Looking for a Needle in a Haystack in Ponderings of the Universe

I’ve not been a good reader/noter lately. Hopefully I’ll be able to catch up sometime this weekend. This rotation is keeping me busy!

Today we saw our equine patient again and she was looking better than last week. It’s awesome to see improvements/changes in reoccurring patients! She’s a good horse, pretty calm, not bitey, though still a little sassy. Anyway, she was being really good, but then, she randomly shook herself. Acupuncture needles went flying! We only lost four but they fell in her hay and grain pile. Well, crap. And we forgot our giant magnet. So Dr. C, rotation mate, and I were digging around in this hay pile. I never thought I would actually be looking for a needle in a haystack! Amazingly enough, we found all the ones she shook off so yay! No needle foreign bodies for this horse today!

Tomorrow’s my last day. Weird! The two weeks have gone by so fast! I feel like I’ve learned a lot but I want to learn so much more. I really hope I’ll have the opportunity and energy to pursue more education on Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine sometime in my future.

On Saturday, I’m going to my first taping of Wits, an NPR radio show. If you don’t listen to it, I highly recommend giving it a chance! It has some very silly, sometimes intelligent humor and the guests, often a comedian and a musician, are usually spectacular. Neil Gaiman is one of the guests for the show we’re going to, so it should be a good time. I’m half-tempted to bring another toilet seat to see if I’ll get an opportunity to have him sign it (I like to have celebrities sign (clean, new!) toilet seats for me. The first was a pink toilet seat signed by Red Green. A few years ago I went to an Amanda Palmer concert and had she and Neil signed a black one for me. Someday, when I have wall space, I’d like to have a wall of autographed toilet seats. Classiest decor ever, right?), but one is probably enough. I’m super excited about this show! If Aaron and I have a good enough time, I may get tickets for the following week’s show, if there are still tickets available, since OK Go is the musical guest. I’m not terribly familiar with their music, but I’ve enjoyed all the songs I’ve heard and their music videos are beautiful. Yay for going out and doing stuff!

I should go shower and study some acupuncture points. Lalala.
