I swear everyone I work with is a cookie pusher, or donut pusher, or cake pusher or some other food. It’s like it’s a crime to eat healthy. By no means do I always eat healthy. I have days, weeks, etc where I have an f it attitude. But, I have been doing really well the past few weeks, and am down 7 pounds. I always bring a healthy lunch to work, I can control that. Today I had had a whole grain pita stuffed with chicken, mushrooms, cucumber, and spinach, a hundred calorie pack of almonds, and a baggie of grapes. So some people have decided that this is not enough, and that I must really need the cookies and chips and other stuff that is always being brought into work. I mean they go as far as picking one up and trying to hand it to me.
I’ve been trying to run and exercise again, when I eat like shit, it makes my runs feel horrible, I feel better and have more energy when I eat well. Plus, I still want to lose about 12-15 more pounds to get back to where I was last year. Technically since losing this 7 pounds my BMI is at the top of the healthy range, but I’m more comfortable with myself, my clothes fit better, I was running my best when I was 12-15 pounds lower. I don’t know how to nicely tell people to stop pushing the food. I say no thank you and they don’t get it. They think/say oh, your’e so thin (I don’t think I am, I think people’s idea of thin is distorted because so many people are overweight, and people at a so called healthy weight are viewed as super thin), you can have a cookie. What they don’t know is that three years ago I weighed 40 pounds more, and that I work hard. This summer when I slacked I gained 20 pounds, so no, I’m not naturally lucky. If I eat that cookie, cake, etc at work, I’m going to go home and eat candy. I’m going to stop at McDonalds on the way home, then come home and still eat dinner. I’m either on track or off. Their is not middle ground. Once I start I can’t stop.
So please, let people get their own cookie. They know they are there and don’t need you to push one on them.
