Let’s just get into the meat of it.
For those who voted to ‘get rid of the illegals taking American jobs’ let’s talk about the economic impact of the removal of 11 million people from our economy.
Of those people, the vast majority (excepting children and adults dependent on their own families) pay into the IRS, Social Security & Medicare/Medicaid systems. Guess what they get back out of it? Nothing. They are net positives to our government purse. They come here to work. And the jobs they take are not ones I have heard of anyone wanting: slaughterhouse jobs, picking produce in 100 degree weather for pennies, roofing in 100 degree weather, dishwashing and floor cleaning in restaurants, cleaning in offices on the overnight shift, the literally crappy jobs at medical centers, etc. The dirty jobs, the jobs done in inhumane conditions and the jobs we aren’t going to do as entitled red blooded citizens.
The effect of the loss of these 11 million people? The goods and services they currently consume and pay for will no longer be consumed or paid for. The businesses they run, that current estimates indicate employ 1 million red blooded American citizens will be shuttered, so there is a direct impact on employment of citizens. Add to those the jobs that are eliminated because of the above mentioned reduction in use of services and purchasing of goods.
Next, housing. Oft-used complaint – yet, these are not the folks buying McMansions and causing neighborhoods to become unaffordable. Round them up, and you have empty houses, in neighborhoods where workers have disappeared and businesses start closing up. Not the utopia you want to live in. Sure, someone might get a foreclosed house because the residents were put in a camp and could not make payments, but that will be a finite resource and won’t benefit anyone besides the buyer who will likely be a corporation or AirBNB buyer if it is in a decent place.
But you think this will all happen far from home, right? Well, let’s talk about that reduced payment to the government systems mentioned above. With reduced money coming into the Social Security, Medicare and IRS, how are Trump and Musk going to handle the further shortfall? Dispel the notion that illegals get any of those benefits – that is Steve Bannon and Fox News wet dream. They don’t get benefits. So, all you old folks, like my Aunt Nancy, who like to say “I got mine, tough shit on the rest of you (including her own children): They will cut current Social Security benefits and Medicare coverage. Not kidding. GWBush lowered provider reimbursement for current recipients of Medicare and this impacted care availability to those recipients. That was an undesired outcome to put it extremely mildly. I had social work clients who went months trying to find a provider who would accept Medicare. That is never a good situation with medical needs.
Now, let’s think about the scope of the effort to dehumanize and rid us all of these ‘illegals’ that are somehow so bad. That costs money. Loads of money. There are already for-profit prison corporations putting in bids to build the camps to process these people. (Here is where I mention that no country that ever built concentration camps was deemed a good country when sanity returned). Instead of collecting the income taxes, Social Security taxes and Medicare taxes from these people, we now get to pay for rounding them up, housing them (last time it was about $319 to $774 per night per detainee depending on camp, tent city, or children in cages). The deportation process promises to be summary judgment this time, so I guess the plus is that per deportee will be less, but that cost savings will be overrun by volume.
Another piece of the pie: inflationary pressures on goods and services: Let’s tackle goods first.
Produce: who picks it? Not, as mentioned above, good red blooded citizens. It is grueling work, often done in awful conditions. I used to pick cherries, strawberries, blueberries, I dug potatoes and radishes. It was all back breaking, and though most of it was not done in the heat, some of these things come into season while it is raw with cold. There are no bathrooms. the BOL regulations about breaks are ignored and workers are punished with being docked for taking breaks. I know this from personal experience. Lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and other field crops are picked in the heat, in large fields, no breaks and paid in pennies to keep it cheap for you. Alabama figured out several years ago that kicking out all of the ‘illegals’ meant crops rotting in the fields and crabs going unpicked. Fish rotted in holds of boats or in the sorting areas. There were no workers. Prices went up and local red blooded citizens whined about not having things to buy in the store, and when there were things, they were prohibitively expensive.
Meat: A significant portion of the workforce in these industries are ‘illegals’ because doing that beats the horrible life they left in their original home. Slaughtering, butchering and dealing with entrails is dangerous, dirty business. Cattle, pigs, chickens and turkeys all are dealt with my ‘illegals’ due to the conditions and simply disgusting work. Cuts, filth, animal feces all over the place and getting brains misted into the air you breathe is not exactly the pleasant job a good red blooded citizen wants to do.
Dairy: Dealing with downer cows (you want details on that, I can give them to you but it ain’t pretty) and slamming hammers into the skulls of male calves isn’t either (I worked in dairy, don’t even try me on this). I had cows slam me into the wall of the barn when they were not in their confinement correctly, been pissed on with the force a firehose, and had manure shot at me when a cow had terrible gas to go with diarrhea because we fed corn too often. Temperatures range from hotter than hell in summer in the barn to frostbite cold in winter. Oh, the joy of facing that at 4am on a school day. I would like to see some of these gleeful gloaters take on that work.
Speaking of that work, it won’t get done if the ‘illegals’ are sitting in concentration camps that you are paying for. Dairy and meat prices will balloon.
But hey, maybe eggs will be cheaper, right? Wrong. Hen houses, which are hell on earth and smell so bad of ammonia it burns the eyes and lungs, don’t enjoy the attentions of good red blooded citizens too often. Only poorest of the poor here in my red state work shoulder to shoulder with the people they voted to have rounded up. There is not a line of replacements waiting for those jobs, either. I expect to see truckloads of dead chickens gassed to cut down on feed costs while eggs become much more expensive and harder to find. But hey, we got rid of those brown folks, right?
Now there are local farms run by families of red blooded citizens. They will produce. Yup, and in season, things might even a tad bit affordable. Except: when things are scarce, the things that are there are more expensive. When everybody wants it, they become much more expensive. Dang, sounds like a mess, doesn’t it? Out of season, you won’t find the produce that farm sold.
Scale this up to the whole country. None of us are able to buy fresh produce at a decent cost, and this problem will find its way to every market, super market and household. Sounds great since there won’t be any brown people though, huh? So nice.
Services: Fewer people buying services sounds great because you can get an appointment faster, right? But in a local economy, if a whole neighborhood is cleared out, guess what happens? The businesses servicing that area see lowered revenue and either seek out greener pastures away from there, or they close. Unemployment results in the local area and in the case of closing altogether, those jobs don’t move, they just disappear. Second aspect: buyers of those services are often also providers. Can’t get your roof done this year? Well make it happen because next year there will be a lot less folks doing roof work. Construction as well.
Let’s not forget the other services ‘illegals’ get relegated to doing: Bedpan and hospital room cleaning, those medically trained who are the lab technicians in medical settings, and the people would provide the service work at restaurants and cafes. Get used to signs saying the cafe is closed today because no one is on staff. It is more wide-ranging than I can cover here, but the picture is pretty clear.
Think about what it would take for you to uproot your family and risk your life and those of your wife/husband and kids to leave the only country you have ever know. They don’t do this instead of a Sunday drive. Oh, wait, I forgot that you don’t care about that, you Jesus lover.
They contribute millions to this economy. They hold mortgages and have a significantly lower rate of foreclosure. They pay their rent. They pay their bills. They buy products made here just like you and me. Musk and Trump and the rest of them want us hating people who have done absolutely nothing to us while they fleece us from every direction. And us libtard, snowflake, woke people tried to tell you. But bigotry was more important than anything else. And now those of us who voted for the correct course get to live the nightmare with the rest of you.
