The Judge - movie review in keeping it postive

There are some wonderful actors in this movie, a story of a family that has lots of tension, lots of secrets. The three sons - two have stayed home, one moved away - get together with the father when the mother dies.

The middle son, after a rough time as a teenager, goes on to law school. This skill is needed when the father, an important judge in their small town in Indiana, is accused of murder.

The story unfolds in bits and pieces as the lawyer son (Robert Downey, Jr) has to defend his father (Robert Duvall) and their unresolved tension shows itself in court.

Although much of the story line can be predicted, the strength of the movie is in the acting. It’s a satisfying movie with an end that is up in the air - not neatly resolved - yet it’s good to “live the questions”.
