books read so far this year: 36 out of 50
i’ve been reading slower the past couple of months. probably because i’ve been kind of obsessed with Assassin’s Creed in my spare time lately. anyway:

The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward
warning: spoilers
eh, this was just OK. it was kind of one of those creepy stories where the villain is actually someone who just has some kind of multiple personality disorder, and i didn’t really like the way they portrayed that. was a bit cartoonish imo.

Lost Boy: True Story of Captain Hook by Christina Henry
this book kind of fucked me up, lol. honestly not sure i’ll ever be able to see the character of Peter Pan in the same fun-loving way again after reading this. it’s just so cleverly written and feels like it makes the most sense, narratively. i’m kind of a sucker for rewritten fairytales anyway. but yeah, if you’re into that sort of thing, i’d recommend this one.

A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3) by Sarah J Maas
i do like the ACOTAR series so far, but i don’t love it the way some people do. i enjoy all the fae lore, and there’s just enough drama and spice to keep me interested. however, her style of writing sometimes annoys me. or maybe it’s because this book was longer than the first 2, so i got more annoyed with it. because i do feel like this book didn’t need to be over 700 pages long. the story isn’t really that intricate or detailed to warrant so many words to tell this story. also, i kind of find the whole “just 1 soulmate” thing a bit eyeroll worthy. maybe i’m just too old to appreciate all that nonsense anymore, idk. just one girl’s opinion.

One of Us is Dead by Jeneva Rose
quick, fluffy, awful, and so fun. i love books like this.

Welsh Corgis: Pembroke & Cardigan by Richard G Beauchamp
this was a quick read, only a couple hundred pages. Matt and i are planning on getting a dog soon, and we’re trying to decide if we want a corgi or not. well, correction: we really want a corgi, but we don’t know if it’s the right fit for us. i’m still on the fence with it, tbh. we’re both more lapdog kind of people, and that isn’t a corgi.
they’re so cuuuute though.

A Fellowship of Baker’s & Magic (Adenshire #1) by J Penner
omg this book was so flippin cute and cozy cottagecore vibes. i can’t wait to read the rest of them.
