125th Street, Harlem in keeping it postive

Many years ago, I hung out with t bus driver. We didn’t “date” per se, I just traveled with him on his route… we talked, hung out, etc.

Part of his route took him along 125th Street. I was amazed that the pull down, “riot” gates covering the businesses at night were painted. Beautifully painted with art work that symbolized the pride in Harlem and the type of store the gate was covering.

Years later, I got to meet Franco (the artist) in person, and got to thank him for his artwork. It’s still there… and since one I saw the other evening contained an image of the president, clearly Franco is still painting.
