Leaving John to sleep in this morning… neither of us could get to sleep last night, so I was up making cards at 1am, and I didn’t go to bed until he did. I wasn’t feeling well yesterday - seemed like I was getting a nasty cold by lunchtime, with a sore throat and a faceache and tight lungs and all that good stuff - but I feel fine this morning, at least so far.

Made a potroast in the crockpot yesterday so I didn’t have to worry about dinner, so I baked a batch of cookies instead. We didn’t have any oatmeal, but I bought a box of ‘new protein cheerios’ and they’re SUPER sweet, so I cut down the sugar in the cookies and put two cups of the cheerios in instead of oatmeal. Plus half a cup of flax seed, some sunflower seeds and raisins. They’re not bad, but ‘real’ oatmeal cookies are better. I was going to take most of them to church, but obviously we didn’t make it.

I still want to go to church so I think I’ll wake John up soon (it’s 10am) and get him to take me to the new 11.15 service I saw a sign for over at the Congregational church… the only other 11 o’clock services around here are the Methodists (traditional - they do contemporary at 9am), and the rabble-rousing prosperity gospel preacher down the street. I only went there once… I found his ranting and pacing exhausting, and when they sent me THREE followup letters and a ‘free gift’ of a little book on the prosperity gospel I was really put off ever going back…

The Beyond Nine Lives kitty shelter is in dire straights… they joined with another shelter a few years ago because their building was up for sale and they were told that if/when it sold they’d have to vacate and if they couldn’t find a new building at least they’d have something to fall back on, and now BOTH buildings are going to be lost - the Pompano building is scheduled for demolition, and the Oakland Park one never sold and has been foreclosed by the bank, who won’t take kindly to a hundred or so kitties living in their new warehouse… if they can’t get a new building, it will be a major tragedy! Anyway, they’re trying to raise funds for a move, and we have absolutely no money to give them, but I dragged out my crafting stuff and I’m making some animal ‘brag books’ and greeting cards for them to sell. I emailed on Friday morning to offer them the stuff and I haven’t heard anything back yet… guess I’ll have to bit the bullet and actually call them tomorrow… but for now I’m having a huge amount of fun making the stuff. I thought I ‘couldn’t’ physically manage to craft any more, but it appears I just needed a good push to get me started. We’re so broke that I’m wondering if I could find some way to sell some stuff to make some grocery money… but how?

PS. He woke up himself… and he doesn’t feel well enough to go to church today. I made breakfast for us, and by the time I was done, neither did I… oh well. We managed three sundays in a row, I think that’s some kind of record for us.
