Update on what has happened in the past 6-8 months since OD went down and I last updated on PB.
February- I spent a lovely 4 weeks with my aunt in Scottsdale. It was the best time of my life. She was dealing with her own cancer journey. Had just gotten this surgery done and a shunt put in. Grandfather was in a nursing home and then back in hospital and then back to home with hospice.
We lost him on Feb 28th. It was nice to be away. It would’ve been hard to experience that in person. My mom is the strongest person I know.
March- My aunt was better and I left for home. Horrible. My mom moved me out of the little place Grandfather and I shared. Back to my parents.
We drove to Homer, close to Shreveport, where my great great grandfather lived. He was Senator. His house is amazing. It was cool to see where my great grandmother lived at one point. Grandfather wanted to be cremated and buried in the Johnson section in Coushatta. We buried him in the same plot as my uncle and my cat. Drove to New Orleans after seeing our old home in Alexandria which is in the center of Louisiana.
Spent a day seeing things in NOLA which is always fun. Sad not having Grandfather there. Beignets and doberge mmmm.
His ceremony was at his tiny church. went a little over 3 hours. 125 people showed up. Only a few family. It was a whirlwind. My cousin from Baton Rouge Michael came which was nice.
The next day we drove to San Antonio to see my brother and his family for a few days.
April- started a business while looking for a job. It’s a home health sans medical job. Basically what I was doing for Grandfather and aunt Bliss and my grandma.
-met my cousin Matt. I have been really wanting to get in touch with cousins on Grandfather’s side. We are so disconnected. Matt commented on an ancestry post I did last year. I had messaged him on FB to tell him about Grandfather bc I didn’t know if he’d know or not, Grandfather talked to him a few times a year. He is 39, lives in NOLA. we became fast friends. We talk weekly. I can’t wait to go to NOLA to meet him and his family :)
June- My brother and his whole family came for my parents HUGE party. 80ish people showed up off and on June 14th.
Pictures bc my parents are obsessed with them!!!
My brother questioned my eating and we got into a discussion. I told him how dad judges my eating (big salads) and he said just ignore him.
I said Bill I CANT. He wont let it lie.
This led to a crazy blow up the next week. My dad was upset at how much I was eating at dinner.
Major crazy fighting between my parents and my dad saying he cared about me and mom didn’t.
It was horrible. I texted Bill telling him what happened.
He had told my dad not to say anything about me eating salads before dinner because its good for me.
my dad is a disciplined eating (basically meat at every meal, little produce, no snacks)
We went to see my moms close friend as a counseling session.
Dad said he is concerned that I can’t take care of myself financially and such.
It was tough but it helped us as a family. Helen said You need to stop parenting her. You are done. She is 30. Stop. its your not responsibility anymore.
Things since have been much better. No more looks from him when I eat and no comments....
mom was parenting me about what I wear but hasnt in a few weeks. We had a blow up over that… in a tj maxx…
I met some Bliss relatives ( the surname of my grandmother Bliss’ ancestor, confusing yes). Mom and I drove to Hillsboro to meet them. It was great!!
Nice to meet new relatives when others leave this earth.
August - At this point I had done about 17 ish job interviews. Mostly for state OSA jobs. I definitely got better with them.
It was tough bc I had one for a nutrition advocate which I really wanted and I didn’t get it.
Definitely a rough week for me emotionally.
I interviewed in July at this Eye Dr and Scholastic. I got picked up for seasonal with scholastic (customer service) which I wasn’t too excited for but I didn’t have a choice. The eye dr’s emailed me mid august saying they were interested in me!!!
Bye bye scholastic!! Hello raw food diet I’ve been dreaming of doing for years!! ( Im currently on week 3!!)
September –I really like this job. It’s a lot of being on the phone scheduling and dealing with patients but the girls are great, the dr’s are great. I had one awful day but besides that it’s been great. Definitely better than home health! I still have my business with a few clients. That’s a good side income. I started reading my Bible again. Esther. Job. Proverbs. Hosea. Corinthians. And the Jesus Calling devotional my aunt P bought me last year. Also Charles Stanley’s devo and radio programs. Every sunday for a few months I listen to Third Day and then some Charles Stanley. Best church ever! I wish it was a real thing.
My mom went to Scottsdale to visit my aunt when my uncle said she wasn’t doing well. She was gone indefinitely, which was just a week bc Bliss had 24 hour care and her best friend living with her. Then my uncle came that next week.
Last week my uncle Tig called and said she had days to live. My mom had kind of known this and was glad she went when she did. Said her goodbyes when she was coherent for most part.
This past week she really was only coherent like 15 minutes a day. My cousin was by her side living with her, the best friend was sent home. My uncle stayed at a hotel.
Friday mom came in my work. I was confused for a second and then I knew when I saw her face. She said “I didn’t want you to see it first on facebook”. She held my hand a minute. She looked like she might cry but didn’t. That was tough. Tough to be at work and have to make confirmation calls with my aunt’s on my mind but I got over it after half an hour. I cried in my car at lunch and that was it.
I rented Draft Day to watch with my parents bc The Cost is good on sad days. I had already seen it (duh on opening day). They enjoyed it.
I bought a body fat monitor thursday… I should’ve done that years ago!! Im excited for it!!
