Starting to think about decorating for the holidays… even though we’re TOTALLY broke and can’t afford to spend more than about ten bucks on each month, I’m feeling a bit excited about being able to put our own stamp on the yard. I guess you do Halloween first, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas after that? Thinking we’ll put some cute Halloween stuff out October 1st. I’ve got a couple of window banners I used in the old place, and I figure I’ll get some of those foam tombstones and maybe a big cobwebby thing or a big banner to drape over our fence. Then for Fall/Thanksgiving I’ll get some cheap fall flowers and stick them in the garden bed, a scarecrow or two etc. And for Christmas MAYBE a fake Christmas Tree set up in our front garden bed where I can see it through the living room window. Every time I’ve tried to have any kind of tree the cats have destroyed it in the first night, but they can’t get their paws on it if it’s actually outside! lol Unfortunately the outdoor power point by the front door does not work so I don’t think we can have lights even though I’ve always wanted them… :( I wonder if we could get a fake tree at the thrift store?
John took me shopping today… John wanted to go to Hobby Lobby and I told him we HAD to go to Goodwill and the Salvation Army store too, and since HL and the Salvation Army are both closed on Sunday we had to do it today. I need more skirts and dresses (when don’t I?) Alas I didn’t find any in the Salvation Army store, but I did get three cute tshirts, two with bling on them and one light pink with butterflies… and in the Goodwill I tried on six dresses and three skirts, and ended up buying one dress and two of the skirts. I ALMOST bought some more Corelle plates to match our dinner set but they had the bread and butter plates and the dinner plates packed up together and we never use the bread and butter plates that we’ve already got - we use paper plates for snacks… the ones we use most are actually the mid-sized lunch plates, but you have to buy them singly they don’t come in the set. I’ve got eight assorted lunch-sized corelle plates that I got in the thrift store in Ft Lauderdale, and I’m still tossing up whether to fork out for four matching ones in Walmart ($4 each.) Anyway, I decided that it wasn’t worth paying $15 for 8 more dinner plates so I left them for someone else. If we change our mind we can always go back and see if they happen to still be there. They probably wouldn’t be though - Corelle is popular.
