so recently we decided to get a LAN line for our house. the only reason we got this was so when out oldest son stays home alone for a little bit we have a way we can get a hold of him and also just in case something happens and he has a way to let someone know about it. we havent had a LAN line in a long long time. mainly because we never used it and also it was a bit expensive.
so i got on the cell and called Centurylink and talked to them about pricing and options and things like that. i asked him flat out “so how much, out the door, complete total, will my bill be for both internet (which sucks by the way) and the new phone?” he told me “it will only be 65 bucks total, however your next bill will be about 20 bucks more because we are starting your new phone line in the middle of the billing cycle.” i agreed to that and it made sence to me, so i got it set up and going.

a few days ago we got our first bill with the new phone and to our surprise it was 101 and some change. WTF!!! so i called them today from work and talked to them about this, wanting to know why my bill was about 20 bucks more then i was quoted? i was told, “well i dont believe that you were told 65 for a phone line and internet, we dont even have a package like that and we never ever know how much the taxes and fees are.” i can see the issue with the STATE taxes for items like that, but they ALWAYS know the fees and government taxes that come along with things like this. i told her” well i as quoted a certian price and i expect to pay the price i was told. not the proce i was told plus another 20 bucks on top of that for hidden fees and crap that you never know anything about.” she told me “well if your not happy with the way we run things then go find another provider, and judging by your address thats gonna be hard to find.” now that might be true, that is no way to treat a customer of many years. not once did i get an “im so sorry about that”, or a “let me see what we can do to remedy this”. so once i get home i will be getting rid of at least my new LAN line with them and possibly our internet because of the way i have been treated!

Sorry for the rant, i just needed to get this all out. it has been eating away at me since i called them.
