Another school year starts in Here

Summer has come to an end and today the kids started school. This day brings with it so many emotions. I have been ready for the kids to go back to school and have their own space along with a routine but I hate the first few weeks of school were we all adjust to being away from each other. The school year flies by so quickly and I feel like time is measured by grade rather than years. It feels like the kids grow up so much faster.

The first day is an emotional one for me. I think because I have so much anxiety built up for Cooper that by the time the day comes it is a major release.

Today went well. We have been preparing Cooper to try to help him know what to expect. He has so much anxiety with new situations and often struggles to get his footing. Once it becomes routine he becomes confident and we sail through. The first day of school is a breeze because he is nervous but the next few days can be tough because he becomes a little more resistant. We are really hoping that because he is comfortable with school now that we might by pass some of the problems we had last year getting him settled. One can hope any way but until I know for sure my emotions are high and I feel constantly on guard. Coop is such an amazing kid and as we get to know some of his fears, anxieties and quirks we are able to help him and situations become so much easier. Every once in awhile he throws us for a loop though. He has acted out over the last few weeks as we got closer to school but settled down the last few days.

Alyssa threw me a bit of a curve ball this morning. She is such a strong independent thing. We got to school this morning and she ran to get in line with her class while I took Bella to her line and walked in with Cooper. After I got Cooper settled I went to check on her and say good bye and when I walked into her class room her eyes were wide and she looked like she was on the verge of tears. She was so nervous! My eyes welled up as I reassured her that she would be fine. I think after the build up of not knowing what to expect with Cooper her emotions caught me off guard. I reined it in quickly though because I didn’t want her to see or feel my emotions for her.

Bella, sweet Bella oh how I miss her today. I am used to the older two being gone but it is her first year of kindergarten and normally at this time she would be bugging me and wanting to know when we were getting her siblings. There have been several times I have looked around and realized that she isnt here. While extremely nervous she is so ready for school. The girl is so smart and LOVES to learn. She has already passed kindergarten expectations and in several areas is ahead of her siblings. She reads past their level and has a memory on her that is just plain crazy. I have always joked to Brandon that we need to be careful with her because she remembers things all the way back to a year and half old and she is going to need counseling later for the wrongs we have somehow done to her! She doesn’t forget! She has Cooper’s teacher from last year and I think she is going to be amazing at challenging her. She will need to otherwise Bella will start teaching the class herself.

Sawyer is bored! He wants to know where his brother and sisters are. As time goes on I think he will love his one on one time but today not so much. I am wanting to do swim lessons and lil kickers soccer lessons with him. He won’t start preschool until next year due to his Sept birthday and I have three years with him until he starts school.

The girls are both playing soccer and because of the birthday cut offs are on different teams. Of course they have practice on different nights so we practice Mon-Thurs. It will be a bit challenging with school and dinner time. I see a lot of crock pot use this fall. Of course Brandon and I didn’t think it through before we signed them up, he works a lot of hours and right now isn’t getting home until after 7 plus between working one Saturday a month and Drill one weekend a month he isn’t able to make it to two Saturdays of games a month so I am running to all the practices and juggling games by myself with four kids, one being a two year old active doesn’t stay in one place for more than a second kid most of the time. Add that to Coop’s OT once a week and Boy Scout meetings one a week that he just signed up for and we have a packed schedule. Such is life with multiple kids. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Ok, I need to run to get the kids in a few so that will have to be it for the update now.. I still haven’t figured out pictures otherwise I would post.
