Today was the first day of school. It was a half day. Timmy and Kayla had an orientation for the seventh-graders. Aaron started fourth grade. We woke up this morning and had Honey Nut Cheerios for breakfast. The kids got dressed in their uniforms and we headed for the bus stop. I wasn’t sure whether I should wait at the bus stop with the kids, but I saw some of the other middle school parents waiting and I figured it was okay. The bus came and they went off to school.

The kids only had a half day and got home about noon on the bus. They all looked happy, which I was very relieved about. There were no first-day disasters. Kayla and Timmy found their classrooms okay. The teachers were all standing outside of their classrooms and that helped them find their rooms. They knew some of the kids and were also able to make some new friends.

Aaron received his desk and cubby hole assignment. The kids in fourth grade all wore name tags so they could get to know each other. He was talking to the boy who sits next to him as they walked to their buses.

After school we had lunch and went for a walk. The kids don’t have homework. I guess they go easy on them the first day.

It is a nice day, so we will go to the park later.
