Judy rolls down the driveway, out
of our complex.
A hearty rattle and screech sonata,
like a boat motor just before you
ring the coast guard.
Her kids are probably trying
trying to convince her to get a new car
or just fix this relic
I think she’s playing chicken.
“I said this was gonna be the last
car I ever buy.”
It fits perfectly in
her parking space,
bought off the plans in 1973.
“Last house I’ll ever need to buy.”
“Last time I’ll ever have to cut down that
damned morning glory from the fence.”
Fat chance, Judy.
