Heatsick in 2014

Francisco has been laying on his side on the gravel for the last 26 hours or so… still breathing. I wish he would just move on, I feel like he’s starving or suffocating to death.

I plan to bury him “at sea” quietly in Burnet Woods near UC, assuming we can do it quickly so no one sees. He’s just a betta fish, can’t imagine why it would be bad…

I’m also starting to feel sick again like I was back in January. Cori was approved for Medicaid but I haven’t heard anything back yet, and we did our healthcare stuff at the same time. I’m still under Kaiser for now but it doesn’t help me here as Kaiser doesn’t operate in Ohio.

Plus the heat is killing me. It’s been 100+ heat indexes for over a week now and I’m trying not to use the AC but then I feel even worse. I’ve had a constant headache and am just tired ALL THE TIME. It’s amazing how much you take for granted… but at this point, while I’m still conscious of how much we’re running the AC (on days where it’s above 95, fans just don’t cut it) I just don’t care. Let the bill be what it will be, if I’m so miserable and heat-sick that I’m throwing up, that doesn’t get me anywhere.

We’ve been leaving the apartment to go to UC or some of the places downtown but we also don’t want to spend money, we just want the AC. Cori’s actually at his final class today. I don’t know how we’ll manage… apparently he needs to pay for liability insurance by September 30 (we weren’t anticipating that) and put in something like 400 hours of unpaid internship time by December 20th. In any case it equals out to about 30 hours a week, and that’s ASIDE from his classes and the work he will need to do for those. So now I’m back to being scared that the only income we will have will be mine, and I just CAN’T get a job that can support that. Maybe someday, but not soon.

How do people go to grad school ? In fact, how do they go to grad school and still have a job ? Fact is, I don’t even know who would hire Cori if he can only work like, one day a week other than some retailers (Kroger, Meijer, Target, etc…) and they may not pay him enough to make it worth it. I mean, the only way I see it is if you already have a job in the field you want and they coordinate your classes with you, or the job you have is already awesome and funds most of your school.

Anyway… I just hope to God the weather gets cooler. Heat really makes me physically ill and I can barely move and it kind of sucks I feel confined to the one room in the apartment where we have AC. But it could be worse… I could’ve gotten one of the apartments I saw that had NO air conditioning. Ick.
