I’ve been putting off writing again. Shame on me.
Of course things are turning upside down again like they always do. Things were going pretty good until the van quit running and I found out that I can’t start school this semester.
The van was running amazingly for about a week. I would take it to work and back. To the store a few times. Nothing ever felt or sounded odd. But I took it out to Teej’s house one day and when I went to leave, I had to try a couple times to get it started. It drove alright until I got out to the main road. At the first light, it stalled and acted like it didn’t want to go. Not really dying, just not wanting to accelerate. But by pushing on the pedal slowly, I could get it going. So I had to drive it like that all the way across town. I was so relieved whenever I pulled into the parking lot. I thought I was going to end up stranded along the side of the road, or worse, in the middle of an intersection and I was going to have to walk home on a 90 degree day.
So my dad and I have come up with some basic steps. We already tried some gas treatment in efforts to prove our theory that the problem is just the gas that’s been sitting in the tank for a year and a half. That didn’t seem to help hardly at all so the next step is the fuel filter. And then after that it’s off to the fuel pump and maybe dropping the tank and draining it completely.
So we’re back down to the Volvo, whose brakes are definitely going out. Its making me a tad nervous to drive, but we don’t really have another option at the moment. There’s no way I’m going to be willing to put another $400 into it when we’ve already had the brakes done three times and it has 240,000 miles on it. So I have to wait until September when we can open our checking account back up and then ask about a car loan.
And I need a new/additional job. There is no way that we’re going to be able to afford car payments, rent, gas, groceries, phone bills, and my school loan payment. So I’m now on the hunt. I’m not sure what I want to get into quite yet. But something not in retail. Something that’s new and hopefully I won’t have to deal with too many customer/ general public as often.
Well Clay should be home soon and we’re going to spend a little time together before he goes to sleep. I’ll be back to write later.
