Cooking and baking are both a science and an art. When done right, the results can be jaw droppingly amazing.
As I mentioned in another book, I am happily seated in the space between science and religion, as I have benefited from both and see them as the most powerful forces in the universe. Kitchen Magick is the greatest example of how the two can work hand in hand. Here are some basic tips.
You should have the proper tools. Quite a few kitchen witches I have met like to keep their special supplies separate from their everyday ones. I don't. I believe every cooking experience should be a magickal one.
Just like with regular tools they should be clean and respected. I cleanse mine with water charged under the full moon once a month. Wooden tools carved with personal symbols are ideal but for health and safety reasons all wooden items should never be used to prepare raw meat.
There is nothing wrong with modern appliances. I swear by garbage pots: Random, leftover, unused veggies, meats and fruit (yeah, I am not above tossing an orange into a garbage chicken pot) thrown into a crock pot for a few hours can be just as magickal as any other meal.
Hands down, home grown herbs are the best, when I cannot do so, fresh bought herbs dried in an oven at low heat and stored in clean, tightly sealed containers are the next best thing.
What stimulates your senses affects your mood. I find a little Micheal Jackson stirs my cauldron. Likewise keeping the color scheme warm, inviting and comfortable can make a huge difference.
Designating a spot for your pet or familiar is strongly suggested. Onyx likes to hang out at the kitchen window while I cook. He is such a good helper.
Setting up a small shrine to your patron deity of home and hearth can add bountiful blessings and success in your kitchen. You can keep a single candle to represent the hearth fires of the past.
Good luck and may the fork be with you.
