august 16 in twenty-eight

Today we drove up to Dayton for L's daughter's second birthday party. It was windy, and it started raining while we were chowing down on cake. So we were only there for about two hours.

We got her a cabbage patch baby with a stroller, bed, and carrier. I would have enjoyed it as a girl, but I'm never sure what to get other people because I was very introverted as a child and really enjoyed playing alone. So what I liked isn't always what other girls like. I could play alone for hours, with dolls. I think that's why I took to reading so young; it was an escape and I could always read alone.

I like how I am. But I'm sure people wouldn't want their daughters turning out like me, so...I have a hard time knowing what to buy for them.
