TIL in SOUNDING BOARD

“Toe the line: accept the authority, principles, or policies of a particular group, especially under pressure.”

I always thought it meant, like, waffling on the edge of a decision, or about to change your mind! As in, toeing the line, like you’re considering stepping over it. Haha. Glad I finally decided to look it up!
