There are but a few Dwarf planets... the IAU regonises 5 of them; Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris.

BUT there are some 1500 "Trans-Neptunian objects" of which 4 of the Dwarf planets are included in. Ceres being between Mars and Jupiter.

To be a Planet, the three requirements are:

  • is massive enough to be rounded by its own gravity,
  • is not massive enough to cause thermonuclear fusion, and
  • has cleared its neighbouring region of planetesimals

With the other Natural satellites of Earth thing ... Seems there have been a few claims but the IAU does not recognise any as permanent. There are several Quasi-Satellites ( Objects that orbit their star at the same distance as a planet) with such thrilling names as 2010 SO16, 2004 GU9,2006 FV35, 2002 AA29 and 3753 Cruithne.

Cruithne is often called the second moon because it orbits us, half of the time... This .gif explains it better.. http://upload.wikimedia.org/.../Horseshoeorbitof...

finally we have one Trojan too 2010 TK7 which is leading us in our orbit of the sun but does not orbit us, but there is no solid evidence we have one... 2010 TK is only 300 meters long.

so there we have it... SPACE, much more busy than we thought.

And this is before we begin to examine the Kepler mission results!

Aye, will be a while before they get around to sorting all them out but they have at least 5 planets in the habitable zone... Damn my great great grand children and their firefly esk life!

As long as they don't find Z'Ha'Dum!

It has been a few thousand years ... it's about that time ...
