Some people are born with gifts-- strength, beauty, riches-- and while they may count their blessings, that which is achieved without effort is never truly yours.
The rest of us have to content ourselves with takens: talents we carve out of our lives and hearts and wrest from an uncaring universe.
And we do that by fighting the universe with the only gift we truly own:
