I started preschool a bit later than most kids. I was shy and nervous, but I soon made a friend named (I forgot his name). He liked cars and machines as much as I did, and we would play with toys every day. He was my best friend, until I saw him playing with some girl instead of me. They were laughing and having fun, and I felt left out. I didn’t like her. I later tried to tell her that he was my friend, but she came back at me with common sense that I didn’t have. My mom put me in another pre-school the next year for a reason I don’t know.

The new preschool was different from the old one. It was bigger and brighter, and it had more toys and books. The teacher was nice and friendly, and she taught us how to write our names and read simple words. She also taught us how to rhyme words, which I thought was fun. I liked the new preschool.

The next year, I started kindergarten at a big elementary school with three levels. It was a huge change from preschool. There were more kids, more teachers, more subjects, and more rules. I felt overwhelmed and nervous, but I also felt excited and curious. I wanted to learn everything and make new friends, which I did meet some other kids who were nice and fun. One of them was {Redacted}, a girl with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She was the prettiest girl I had ever seen, and I liked her right away. The best thing about the school was the playground. It was called Treasure Island, and it was a wooden structure with slides, swings, bridges, tunnels, and towers. It looked like a pirate ship, and we would pretend to be pirates and adventurers. We would climb, run, jump, and slide all over the playground. It was our favorite place to be.

One day, I had noticed a stapler just kinda staring at me. I was very, very curious at the time and wanted to know how painful it would be to staple myself. So I actually stapled my thumb! I still remember my dad taking it out of my thumb after school.

At the end of the school year, I asked my crush {Redacted} if she liked me back. Of course, she said no. But my father still read me and my sister bedtime stories most nights.
