I sat on the dock today
A reflection was my company
and a cold breeze its words.
Once again, my thoughts drifted to you.
And to me.
I looked back on who I was then, and where life was.
I'm reminded again how much we both changed
And what we became.
Just like the tide, how it waxes and wanes
Our blanket of bliss was pulled away
To reveal nothing but pieces of what used to be.
Something so complete, and understandable,
but now is nothing more than a reflection on the water.
The weight of a memory is immense,
and things don't look great.
The absence of a direction leaves me tossing and turning,
always at the mercy of the waves.
Sometimes I think it'll be kind enough to take me under.
As the clouds rolled over, the reflection faded
And the breeze died down again.
I sat on the dock today.
