Feeling better in Another Open Diary refugee

I was getting some kind of creeping crud in my sinuses... felt very unwell over the weekend. Saturday we had to go to Walgreens and pick up test strips for John and we stopped at a yard sale on the way back because they had a walker frame and I thought it might be better for indoors while I was so weak and shaky - I couldn't take five steps without the stupid walker except for the hour or so after I took my prednisone and nebulised... (I decided not to buy it - they wanted ten bucks for one of the grey metal folding square walkers and when I tried it I really didn't like how it felt. My three-wheeler is ever so much nicer to use than a frame that I actually have to pick up and move!) I was only outside for ten minutes but it was so hot that I wanted to collapse... I didn't set foot out of the house on Sunday. I had a lot of sinus pressure, a bad headache from Friday through to lunchtime Sunday (gradually improving), and a lot of coughing on Sunday. And now it's 4.30 Monday morning and my head and face doesn't hurt any more, and my lungs feel like they're clear, so I hope I'm on the mend. I nebulised every six hours over the weekend (the doc wanted me to go for eight but I couldn't manage it) but I think I'll be able to cut back to twice a day now. Hope... getting used to the vile taste of the new medication, and it doesn't make me as weak, shaky, and palpitationy as the straight ventolin nebuliser did. Friday my heart rate was 150, Saturday it was under 120 when I checked, and I didn't feel it working hard on Sunday at all (but I didn't really do much except rest.) Hopefully it's back to normal again, it was very unpleasant.
John's sugar is improving rapidly... the doctor wanted him to go get an insulin shot on Saturday and he really didn't want to do it, but he promised he would if his sugar went over 400. He tested his sugar about six times Saturday and Sunday and it's going down - in the 200s now, and the low 300s after he ate. Still way too high, but he feels much better. He said he was taking Monday off work, and he hopes to go back on Tuesday. We still haven't gone and got groceries - neither of us was up to it, but we HAVE to go today... we're running out of diabetic food. I started a new Pinterest folder for healthy recipes and I'm gathering ideas for diabetic-friendly things to make, especially with vegetables... good thing John's cholesterol is good, because a lot of the low-carb recipes use a lot of butter, cream and cheese to make them taste good. They recommend low-fat as well as low-carb for diabetes but John's blood pressure and cholesterol are still good, and my medication is doing the job for me, so I don't see the point in depriving ourselves of EVERYTHING tasty... here's the link if you like to play with Pinterest
Oh, and while I went without my meloxicam over the weekend, my knees, hip, and lower back are increasingly painful... I had to take all my pain medication Sunday night so I could get to sleep, so I'm going to restart it today. Going without it helped to control my blood pressure, but I need the pain control...
PS. Now I've been up for an hour, the headache and sinus pressure are coming back... going back to bed.

Going back to bed is sometimes the best choice, isn't it? I'm glad you got the scripts and also that you were able to rule out a walker that didn't work for you. ((hugs))
