Interviewed in (W)hole

Phew, okay. I've got three interviews under my belt. It seems like such a crazy, grown up world to be living in, where I go to interviews for CAREERS with other people who I really appreciate and look up to, who share the same ideals as I do and have the same common goals and interests. It's pretty amazing.

I really think the interview at Nordale on Wed was the best one I've had so far. I really connected with the principal, and we have some really important values in common. He talked about his kids and was being really casual and open, which is how I do everything, anyways. It was easy to talk to him, and he told me that I had really made him think and that he really appreciated it. He sincerely shook my hand and said he was really glad to meet me and made eye contact and nodded and seemed really serious about it. (He's married with three kids, don't get any ideas.) At the end of the interview he kind of broke down his philosophy and stated what parts of it were most important to him, and all of it was stuff that I focused on during my interview. It was rather serendipitous.

Nordale is close enough to my house, it's in a nice neighborhood and pulls from a nice area, a few military areas and a lot of middle class neighborhoods. I actually used to live right next door to it, when I lived in Cedarwood and Erica was my apartment manager? Their playground was our backyard, and we would play there all the time. lol I always thought it would be great if we still lived in that area when Kasin entered school, because he could go to Nordale, and it was such a nice school.

SO! I think that's my most promising interview, and the position I want the most, even though it was for a 4th grade class. I've always wanted K or 1st grade, but 4th would be fun. :)

The interview I had at TBrown today, after an insane amount of ridiculousness to get there (lost my keys, lost my wallet, kids showed up late so I couldnt leave on time, my gas light came on, the drive belt in the van slipped and I couldnt get it back on, then all my engine lights came on half way there and I had to pull over with my hazards flashing on the HIGHWAY and find my vice grips and fix the damn thing, leaving my hands mangled and grease stained.... I thought I would be late FOR SURE, but I magically wasn't.) All three ladies were really nice. There was the principal, a K teacher and a 1st grade teacher. They are hiring for a 4th Kindergarten teacher. I would love that position! The school is out in North Pole, though. It's not a HUGE commute (20-30 minutes) but it is less than ideal. I would take it, though. It's a nice school at the bottom of a hill out in NP, in a rich neighborhood. They have a small number of military kids, but mostly just upper middle class and upper class family folks. It would be pretty relaxed. And honestly, since the kids and I are looking at moving in the fall, hopefully, we could just move out to NP, because rent is generally cheaper in NP.

However, the interview wasn't super awesome, I feel like I didn't have a chance to show a lot of personality, and they were nice, but quiet and a little detached, so I don't know that they liked me much, and they sort of rushed me out. (They probably just had back to back interviews, but still.) I think I answered the questions well, and I highlighted a lot of my strengths without bragging TOO much, so who knows. I feel like they could easily meet someone they like better, but maybe not! I feel kind of like I did after the watershed interview, like it was good but not great, and I'm not sure what will happen.

Both positions are supposed to be filled in the next couple of weeks, so I should know if I got either position by the 1st. Keep crossing your crossables for me. :)
