For the first time in 40 years there is no companion animal in the house. It feels really weird!
Nothing to listen to/for; nothing to trip over; nothing to worry about or clean up after.
Weird.

It is odd. I had a break for many years as my father was allergic to cats. But I know that for the past 40 years, there have been animals with me...
