We are settled. After a week and a half we finally have internet. So far the apartment is working out well and living with Cori (so far) has been great. Thank GOD we got this apartment though--it was easily one of the biggest I saw and after getting all of our stuff situated, there was just no WAY that most of the other apartments I saw would have worked for us, unless we went for a basement unit in a building that smelled like pot smoke :(

We scoped out the UC campus today, walking from the apartment. It's not around the corner, definitely, but there is a shuttle pretty close and the metro a little further, both are still closer than walking the whole way. But on most days walking should be all right, taking about 20 minutes. Like I said, not around the corner, but doable. And of course if I can take Cori or drop him off, I will do so as much as possible.

The apartment has a wall unit AC by the front door and while it's great for the front room and a little bit into the kitchen/dining room, it does nothing for the bedroom. Cori's friend John gave us a portable AC and after putting it on the dresser in the bedroom and putting a bucket under the condensation hose, it's been working fine even though it's awkward as hell (we can't use a window unit as the windows are 4 feet wide and only have about a foot of vertical clearance). I would rather use the AC as little as possible but we are practically in Kentucky and it's July and next month will be August and it's HOT. Freaking HOT.

I'm more just concerned about the electricity bill. Granted the apartment wasn't lived in for half the month, but I have absolutely NO idea what to expect. I mean, lights, computers, TV, AC, stove... I don't know how much all of this will equate to. Today was a nice day weather-wise, so immediately I opened the windows (we get some nice cross-ventilation in the family room and bedroom since windows are on 2 walls). It'll be hot the next couple days again and then cloudy/rainy but not so hot. Maybe a fan will do on those days. I'm just scared for now about electricity expenses. Cori keeps talking to me about grocery budget but he doesn't turn things off or he keeps his laptop plugged in constantly and I feel like I need to be the electricity bill stickler if he's going to be the grocery bill stickler LOL at least for now.

But otherwise, things are going well. Now for finding work...
