Today, during my post-nap time lull, I got a phone call from the school district. I saw and recognized the number on my phone, and I answered right away, hopeful that this was relevant to my applications with the district.
Nope. It's the pre-screening questionnaire for getting Milo into preschool with the school district. I answer her questions, she tells me the date of the interviews (Aug 20th-22nd) and tells me that I will be contacted to set up an exact date later on. Wonderful. I hang up.
A few seconds later, the phone rings again. Local number, but I don't recognize it. I answer. "Hi, this is Mr. D with Watershed School! Is this Ashley?"
You. BET. It is.
He said he'd like to schedule an interview with me for Thursday. I said I would absolutely LOVE to come for an interview. I'll be there on Thursday, at 12:40pm.
And then I pissed myself!
Okay, not really. BUT I COULD HAVE! I seriously have not stopped freaking out since like 2pm.. it's 11:30 now. lol
I've been looking up interview tips, Teaching Interview Questions and answers, I've been having my friends quiz me with random teacher interview questions, and I've been working on my portfolio and perfecting my responses for interview questions. I'm SO pumped up.
This is the nature-based school that focuses on local issues, like climate change and water cycles, fishing and outdoors stuff, small towns and community.
I REALLY feel like this would be a PERFECT fit for me, as they really value a lot of the same things I do. Individual students, not just grade levels as a whole, student-led exploration and education, a strong sense of community in the classroom, and an emphasis on self-control and ownership of the students. They should be aware of and have a say in their education goals!
Wish me luck. I really NEEEEEEEEEEEED this. <3
