I'm not dead, I've been doing stuff in Day to Day

I haven't written for ages, and I'm going to make an effort to write more often. I don't think I like the PB bookmark listing thing which only lists entries you haven't read yet by default. If you don't leave a comment the first time you see an new entry, then you don't see the entry listed again unless you consciously make a decision to list unread bookmarked entries. That means you are less likely to leave a comment. I think the default should be to show all bookmarks.

On Friday night we went out to see the Drifters in concert. Now I know what you're thinking; middle-aged men in polyester suits and slip-on shoes singing bad cover versions to a Hammond organ backing track, right? Well wrong actually. They have a really good band and the show was actually very slick indeed. They may have been wearing polyester suits and slip-on shoes, I didn't notice, but it was a good night, and the boy felt very special because he stayed up until gone 10pm.

Anyway, this weekend I spent about 3 hours weeding on the allotment on Saturday morning. I got slightly sunburnt, and my back ached afterwards. After lunch we all cycled to Waitrose and had a free coffee in the coffee shop by the canal. Then I cut the grass in the afternoon. And in the evening, I made 5 pots of jam, and a bottle of homemade Rhibena with the 1.5kg of blackcurrants I picked. We only have 3 bushes. I thought that was a good yield. I felt like I got a lot done on Saturday.

Sunday was BBQ lunch day at Lydiard Park with the boy's Martial Arts school. That was a good day actually. The weather stayed nice and a hell of a lot of people showed up. There was a lot of meat left, so it's going to be mixed grill for dinner.

I've decided I'm going to try building a skateboard. It's another element of my mid-life crisis I suspect. I watched Walter Mitty the other day with Ben Stiller, which is worth a watch by the way, and was inspired by the longboard scenes. I'm going to start with a shop-bought deck, but I have found some videos that show how to make custom decks and I may have a go.

I've just re-read that paragraph and, to be absolutely clear, I did not watch the film with Ben Stiller. Ben Stiller was in the film, which I watched with my wife.

And finally, I like this story I found in the Derbyshire Times this morning. Apparently a naked man was seen riding a bicycle along the A6 and attracting quite a bit of attention. It transpires that he was in fact the Derbyshire leg of the World Naked Bike Ride. No one else turned up. One has to admire his enthusiasm. It's not clear whether any action was taken against him.
