They had to reach back to find this obscure ELO tune for American Hustle. Now it is being used in at least a couple of commercials. I became a fan of the Electric Light Orchestra when A New World Record was released in '75 or '76. My brother and I started working our way back through the record of work for ELO. I think Face the Music was as far back as we got before giving up.
I did the same thing with Pink Floyd. Picked up with The Wall and worked backward to Ummagumma - before that it is they just were too weird.
This is the first time I have been online in three days. Maybe I am taking the disconnect button a little too seriously. I have taken to calling the ubiquitous head down device as a "Stupid Phone" - because it certainly doesn't make anyone any smarter. But it does make them drive like idiots.
I was getting gas when an SUV pulled in behind me. Out of the corner of my eye I saw ass-length honey blonde hair and as evolution has designed me I looked.
Teenage girl with a body to die for. Hunched over as she walked from the back left seat to the right front seat. While her father glared at me. Her head never came up from the stupid phone.
I predict that at the rate of intoxication with the electronic horseshit that so abounds that within a generation or two the human race will start looking like the Skeksis from The Dark Crystal. Emaciated limbs and hunched over from staring at stupid phones, iPads, Tablet PCs, Laptops and the rest of the idiocy of modern life. It was just a generation ago this shit didn't even exist.
Insult to injury is that the people selling this crap are getting so insanely rich. The auto insurance commercial where the kid had a fender bender and is telling his mother about the "App" where it could go straight to the insurance company - then asks his mother if she knows what that is. I always crack up because little shit probably doesn't even know that "app" is a contraction for "application."
Weather is full on summer here. Merging on hot - but that is relative, and humid. But damn nice compared to twenty below.
