Ugh where to start.
We’re fine. Everyone is fine. Craig and I are just totally exhausted.
We adopted a puppy two weeks ago. It was a smooth process. Meet the dog, fill out application, get interviewed. References were called a few days later, we were accepted, and we adopted the dog just 5 days after applying. No bullshit, no jumping through hoops. And it was local, as opposed to some of the podunk towns we were going to, desperately trying to adopt a dog.
So now we have Beau. He’s now 10 weeks old. Shepherd mix… maybe some rottie in him. I also think some terrier, but who really knows. He’s cute. He’s gonna be a big dude, his paws are huge lol. He’s got the cute floppy puppy gig down. But he’s also VERY mouthy and nippy. Constantly biting the kids clothes, socks, shoes. He’s very different from the cool, mellow Archie.
Beau came to us with two types of worms and kennel cough. But he’s a big dude and took all his meds and seems fine now. He’s just a lot of work. Moreso than Archie was and we are just all tired. Archie took to house training like immediately. Beau is still shitting and pissing in whichever room he sees fit (mostly Alex’s and I find that kind of funny lol). Craig and I have both had thoughts/feelings like “what the fuck were we thinking? Why did we do this?” But it’s our responsibility now.
I’m back to having some weird thoughts. I slept funny the other night and was having right chest pain, definitely muscular. But in my head I thought “oh good, maybe it’s a heart attack.” Like what the fuck. And yesterday I had some pain in my chest (stress, likely) and I was like, “God, I hope this is the heart attack. I hope this is it.” Good lord.
I decreased my lexapro yesterday. Mostly bc I ran out of 5mg tabs but let’s see how that goes.
I took yesterday off because Alex was throwing up all over creation. So I kept him home and sent Ryan to school. I took today off because I honestly didn’t feel like working. Meh. And it’s snowing so I’m not sure if I’ll get in trouble for calling out on a “weather emergency” day, but I really don’t care.
I’m feeling a little burnt out, I guess. Between not sleeping well and constantly being at someone’s beck and call and work being crazy. I’m just fried. I was supposed to be precepting all week but I honestly just want to be left alone to do my thing and move on.
Usually when you call out sick, the scheduler reassigns your visits for the day to another nurse. There’s one nurse a few towns over that I’m always covering her patients. I see a couple of hers every week bc she’s either off or overwhelmed. She currently has 9 patients, I have 17. So she should definitely be seeing some of my patients while I’m off. But is she? No. In fact, all my patients got reassigned back to me for later this week. So now I have 5 or 6 visits each day. Which I can manage. But still. I shouldn’t have to. And I have to precept? Lord.
I’m just bent out of shape lately. Ugh something smells weird at my kitchen table where I’m sitting and it’s bothering me. Guess I’m done with this entry.
Oh! Some good news! My work wife had her baby last week! A beautiful healthy girl and they’re all doing great. So very thankful for small miracles.

so, my super intelligent puppy would sometimes look me in the eye and pee on the floor, and poop accidents a plenty. i thought something was wrong because my other dog had literally one poop accident in the house and 1 or 2 pee accidents MAX his entire life. the vet kept telling me the puppy was "smart" and i said "i don't understand, we're like 6 months in, he does seem smart, so why is he still pooping on the floor sometimes" and the vet said THIS IS JUST HOW SOME PUPPIES ARE. I was literally floored. She said it would end before his first birthday and around 10 months he just stopped doing it out of the blue. I guess some puppies just like to do it. :-I
Are you crate training also? That does help with some of them but like I said, mine just did what he wanted anyway. Went out side and held in the poop so he could do it inside. lol
