Tomorrow I officially take possession of the apartment, but I'm not really going to be staying there overnight until Cori gets in in 2-3 weeks. I also wanted to look for mattress sales (it being the 4th and all) but the delivery will be annoying because I don't know if I can purchase the mattress on the 3rd or 4th and then have it delivered say, the 21st (we should definitely be in the apartment by then).
It's going to be an insane next couple weeks... tomorrow I am going to head over with a bunch of cleaning supplies and clean (yes, the apartment was literally the only clean one I saw, but my personality being what it is and growing up with a mom who was a nurse, I just like to clean things myself so I know for a fact it's clean). I brought a lot of cleaning stuff with me from Virginia but went out and bought a few things yesterday like a butterfly mop, a bucket, Fabuloso, swiffer wood floor wet jet solution and off-brand pads (Catie is giving me her wet-jet; I prefer a spray mop where I can mix my own solution and not have to replace batteries, but I need something tomorrow and it was cheaper for now to buy the pads and pre-made solution if Catie is giving me the wet-jet), Bar Keeper's friend, a plunger (just in case), a few rolls of toilet paper, some paper towels, and Comet. Everything else I had, and Catie went to Kroger yesterday so I have about 10 plastic bags I can use for trash. But yeah... I also use vinegar and try to be conscious of what I'm using but seriously... sometimes the harsh chemicals just clean better, or things like Fabuloso just smell better LOL As I mentioned, I would like to get a Libman Freedom mop to avoid buying pre-packaged solutions, disposable pads, and batteries. I'll look into getting it once I've used up the pads and solution I bought this one time around.
I really hope the wall air conditioner is powerful enough to at least keep the bedroom bearable (the bedroom is furthest away from the AC). The windows in the bedroom are too wide for a window unit (48") which really sucks, and portable AC units are bulky and big and the smallest power I can find is 8,000 BTUs which is simply almost twice as big as it needs to be for that room. And there are no ceiling fans of course, so maybe a floor fan will do.
Which reminds me... so dad is driving to Wisconsin. He's going to get a hotel nearby on Wednesday (since I'm sort of halfway now) and is bringing some things for me from VA--the TV, my desktop computer, a fan, some other things... so it'll be nice that dad can see the apartment even though nothing will be in it. He's going to leave early to avoid rush hour and will quite possibly arrive at Catie's between 2-4 PM, then I will just go down in his car to the apartment, maybe we will take both cars so I can bring more stuff. So it'll be nice to see dad.
Then I have things going on with Amanda on Thursday and possibly Friday, and I very well may head back to VA on the weekend, but I haven't chosen which day. I may not even leave until Monday the 7th. Then I will spend 3-4 days there and come back on the weekend again (Dad will probably be back on Friday or Saturday so I can see him again) and then I am flying out to Minneapolis the evening of Monday the 14th to help Cori pack and move, then we will take his car to Cincinnati (which I'm dreading since his driver's seat adjuster is broken and I am too short to drive comfortably without pillows and maybe a box behind me... * sigh *).
See what I mean about trying to figure all this out ?
In any case, I'm still excited. I'm glad I was able to get this apartment. Like I said earlier, I'm sure it won't be perfect and honestly it's a little more than we wanted to spend, but hey... after all the shit Cori and I have been through the last year, it's nice that we are going to an apartment that is, at minimum, fine. The job thing, well... hopefully that'll be okay. And while I'm so incredibly grateful that dad is helping us, I know the two of us need to be able to make it on our own and hopefully by the end of the year we will be self-sufficient and maybe dad only helps us out for groceries, or maybe nothing at all (he was still helping my brother and sister-in-law out financially until last year, and Nate is 7 years older than I am, so dad told me he would expect to do no less than that for me and he knows I didn't ask for it, but he's insisting).
And Catie, I mean... damn, I don't know what I would've done without her help in giving me a place to stay and a place to store all my crap so I could avoid moving it all at once. And she's giving me and Cori a bunch of furniture we don't have, like two dressers, a few lamps, a wardrobe, a desk, and a coffee table.
I'm not going to miss her dogs, though LOL God. No wonder I require all my dogs to be at least 35 pounds XD

P.S. If anyone has any advice about ANYTHING, anything at all, regarding a new apartment, please let me know. For the basics, I already have the electric company starting service in my name tomorrow and I will fill out a mail-forwarding thing in a couple weeks (I do important stuff online so it's not a big deal, and anything I set up here has the apartment address) and Cori and I aren't going to mess with internet until he gets here since I won't really be using it until then anyway. I am going to sign up for renter's insurance (already looked at USAA) and I will deal with the healthcare thing towards the end of the month since I already paid Kaiser Permanente for July anyway. Job hunting is job hunting, but I can't do a whole lot at the moment since I'll be out of town most of the first 3 weeks of July. But anything else that I may not know or have already thought of, let me know !
