My Moon Flower in Favorite Pictures

I am usually quite bored by white flowers, but I have to say my Moon Flowers have really piqued my curiosity. There is a luminescence borrowed, no doubt, from its namesake. Each giant flower blooms twice before it is spent, and in its place grows a rather large, and spiney seed pod. I suspect that by next spring, this plant will have grown to the rooftop. And the fragrance...I can't even describe it.
The best time to photograph them is early morning when the pinking of the sky is reflected in her petals.
And she's not just a straight up white flower. She is frocked in a pastel purple(favorite color), and tipped by a green-tinged purple curlicue.

Love the peeling wall!

The ones on my mother's house grew on a vine on her roof. She'd climb up there to smell them. :)

Oooh! Do you have pictures?

Unfortunately, no. Mom died a few years ago. Her moon flowers bloomed at night. The scent was incredible. I have corn plants by the front door that are about 7-8 foot tall. When they bloom, the air is perfume. Ditto the Confederate Jasmine. Living in Florida has its charms! :)

I've never seen one of those flowers and now I'd like to see one...and smell one.

My grandmother taught me that the fairies come out to dance when the moonflowers open and dress in their spent blooms.
