Ahhhh..I've waited for this weekend for some time now. Today, I will spend the day getting all of our gear ready for this weekend. My bf and I like to climb mountains. The first one we climbed was the highest peak (6,682) this side (East) of the Mississippi. The one we are doing this weekend is about 600ft shy of that. At this one, there are some pretty interesting things we will/might encounter. We will encounter a swinging rope bridge about 200 ft long and maybe 80 ft in the air. We MIGHT encounter a bear. <~~~ my fingers are crossed for this one. I really would like to spot a bear...from a distance. I would like to be able to bring back some bear photos. Also, the latter quarter of the mountain is nearly vertical, so we will have to use some anchored cables and wooden ladders that are already in place on the way to the summit.

I love getting our gear all spread out on the floor, assessing what we have, and figuring out what we'll need. I think we're gonna leave super early in the am because its about a three hour drive, and we want to get out there and get to the top with daylight left. Then we will have time to come back down some and set up camp. I can't wait to see the stars....

It's pretty physical, but I really think it's more of a mental thing. You have to keep moving, and at times you just wanna stop. It gets hard and you have to override your brain yelling at you that your feet are ready to fall off. And you have to keep going. One foot in front of the other until your done. I'm going to enjoy my day of anticipation and excitement. You go up the side of the mountain one person, and come down knowing yourself a little better. There are a lot of long silent stretches in which you just think. About everything and nothing all at once. You know you're doing something pretty fucking neat and the feeling of accomplishment when you reach the top is unreal. Then, you gotta come back down, which I think is the hardest part. I hope to post some pics of my venture. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
