CKD in Life As I Know It - 2022

So yesterday I saw my Dr for my yearly exam. She’s now diagnosed me with Stage 2 Chronic Kidney Disease. I take a LOT of NSAIDs for chronic pain. I mean…A LOT. And that’s why I now have the CKD.

Thankfully at Stage 2 it’s still very mild, and is treatable. It can not be reversed so treatment focuses on preventing further progression of it. No more NSAIDs.

I sent my pain management dr a text asking him what I could take that doesn’t cause more kidney issues. He’s taking me off the Meloxicam I was taking. Now he wants me to take plain Tylenol 2-3x/day regularly. As well as add in an Omega 3 fatty acid supplement. He said that normally take care of all of the arthritis pain I have on a daily basis. Between osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia, there’s NEVER a day without some sort of pain. So it’s important for me to have some sort of pain management.

He did say that if I have a day when my pain level is 8-10, I can take a low dose ibuprofen just to get things calmed down, that once in a great while won’t make the kidney damage worse.

So I guess there’s that.

In good news I did get the job at Safelite and I start on Monday. I’m really excited about it.
