Social Media in Life in General

So my sleep schedule is finally getting better! The solution was something so dumb I don’t even want to admit it.

But it was just watching TV in bed, or a not doing that at least.

Jessica would always turn on the TV (and use a sleep timer) and then I would bust out the laptop and watch my own thing and fall asleep to whatever. The issue is that often I would get too into what I was watching and stay up for a few more hours (or 5 or 6) and finally fall asleep at 6am. And any time I tried to fix my sleep schedule, I would still turn on the laptop but just do my best to only listen to the show and fall asleep to it. Best case scenario, I would wake up in the middle of the night 2 or 3 times and finally just give up on sleep at 7am, get up, be tired all day and take a mid day nap around 1pm until 6pm. Rinse repeat.

I wouldn’t get anything done really, because idk what it is about me, but I can’t function on even a little lack of sleep. Everything is a fog and I’m just a zombie.

But over the past 3 weeks or so, I’ve committed to just laying in bed with no screen time at all. I still put in my headphones and listen to something (bc I’m a millennial and I can’t stand zero stimulation and risk having a thought or emotion), but no screens at all. I barely even look at my phone. It took a couple days, but I’m finally falling asleep reasonably fast and not waking up in the middle of the night! I’m still waking up a tad earlier than I want to, but as long as I’ve gotten at least 7 hours or so I just get up and get the day started.

But it’s great because I’m finally getting chores done, emails are being sent, social media posts are being made… etc. I still sometimes need that mid day nap but it’s only like 30 minutes now or so. I’m still in my mid 30s I can’t change biology lol.

Anyway, I came into some social media money (like… a butt ton… I can’t talk about it… NDA stuff but just trust.) I don’t like to spend money on things I want, I’d rather just put it back into content creation (see my closet for proof, my clothes are ragged af)… but I did buy 2 things I’ve always always always wanted.

First up, an electric drum kit. I haven’t had a drum set in 8 or 9 years I believe and I have always wanted to get back into playing. Then the other day I had an idea for a cool tiktok where I play drums to a popular song and thought “you know what, let’s go for it” so I went to the closest guitar center and bought one.

Side note: I think the people at guitar center pretty woman’d me because they gave me the person who was basically brand new to the job and knew basically nothing. I walked out with $2700 worth of gear so I guess I pretty woman’d them back lol. But it was annoying because he forgot to include the hi hat stand (neither one of use knew that this drum kit didn’t include one), so I had to drive back.

Anyway, I’ve been loving the new kit. The tiktok did okay too. I got the band to send me a track of the song without the drums so I could add my own and people seemed to like. That’s the part about all this tiktok attention I’m still not used to, the fact that I can just hit basically anyone up and they’ll likely write back and give me their number. Wild.

Okay, purchase number two… a home gym. I’ve always always always wanted one and finally decided to just go for it. I spent way too much money but I wanted to be sure I had good gear that would last a long time. You see I love working out, but I hate leaving the house. Getting dressed up in work out clothes and then driving home all sweaty before showering is all the worst. The idea of just walking down to my garage and working out whenever I want is just BLISS. I will have to deal with the lack of air con and possibly spray a lot for bugs but I can deal with those things. We have a rental so I can’t install a mini split AC but the second we own a home I’ll be doing that for sure.

anyway, that’s pretty much all that’s going on right now. I’ll be sure to come back and update soon!
