I went to the pub again last night with colleagues! This time it was Rowan, Jack and Harry. We did invite Sarah, but she couldn’t come. We just went to the pub where Belle works, then Belle’s boyfriend showed up as well, so he sat with Rowan and talked motorbikes. Rowan and Harry were staying at Jack’s and were planning on smoking a bit of weed. I was tempted (haven’t smoked a joint in YEARS!) but with it being a school night and the fact that Jack lives in a village in the middle of nowhere so I’d have to stay over, meant I called it a night and came home. It was fun, but they’re really young and laddish and I’d have probably ended up getting bored of them and their knob jokes anyway.
John is still off work with no idea if/when he’s going back yet. He’s still on holiday pay which is grand. I’m really loving having him at home in the evenings, I felt like I never saw him with his split shifts. I’m off work today and the weather is nice, so I’m hoping he’ll want to come out for lunch or something when he wakes up.
Eleanor has had a week off school sick. It’s always the same at the start of term, isn’t it? She had a rotten cold. I hope this is the last of it, she hasn’t really got long left at school now before her GCSEs. She needs all the study time she can get. I was lucky, I was barely ill when I was at school and I don’t remember ever being off. But every time Eleanor gets ill, it always goes to her chest. It’s just one of those things, the doctor said. She’s not asthmatic.
Belle has gone back to college to do art. I hope she sticks at it this time! She’s working really hard at the pub and puts in her hours, even though she had the same bug her sister had. She’s already cashing and locking up (although they don’t take cash, so “cashing up” is essentially pressing a button on the till!)
The kitten is a pain in the arse. He’s only allowed in the living room and Belle’s room, but he’s figured out how to dodge past us when the door opens and run around the whole house, terrifying my birds. The other morning I was sat with him in the living room while he had his mad half hour. Literally doing the wall of death and using my legs as a launch pad, only stopping to precariously sniff my coffee on the way past. As I said, I don’t have much experience with them, so don’t really speak cat, but John said the cat keeps slow blinking at me, which means he likes me. I don’t know why, I just seem to yell “ow!” every time he’s near me!

Cats like people who don’t like cats 😆
