Out back I play God.
I choose what lives or dies,
what weeps or grows.
what waters
or burns.
I mostly use my powers for good.
Like right now I am growing
really good weed and
building a waterfall
With three pools
and a stream.
I am mostly finished now.
Just adding ferns and flowers.
The occasional rock here and there
to disturb the flow of water in
a pleasing yet natural way.
Unfortunately,
Now and again
My subjects will become unruly.
Weeds will sprout through the cracks
of the stepping stones or sometimes
the birds and bees will nest in
unauthorized zones.
My punishment for these crimes
changes with my mood.
Sometimes they get
The hand,
The chemical,
The machine,
The fire.
Once in a while I will drink too much
And they will run wild and furious
with life for days on end.
The weeds pray for my death
and the flowers pray for justice.
The stones gather moss
And the water runs
down hill.
Back here I am God,
and when I die
the world will
choke itself
out.

Never thought of a garden in quite that way. Amazing.
