I am really passionate about a few great products. I've written at least three entries on the marvels of the Diva Cup, and I know I've mentioned True Lemon before, too.

I hate water. It's so dull and I don't have any incentive to drink it when I'm not parched. I also hate lemons. Or lemon-flavored anything. I do like lemon in a good pasta dish.

I love water with lemon though, oddly enough. But I hate having to buy lemons and keep them on hand. They're expensive and they go bad. And, finding unwaxed lemons can be challenging sometimes. I like to slice up lemon and put it in my water, usually after letting it sit in the fridge overnight. But with waxed lemons, you get the chemically aftertaste and it just isn't quite the same. And even with regular lemons, they can be messy and it takes a while to slice up that many of them. Concentrated lemon juice doesn't taste quite right, either.

So six years ago when I discovered True Lemon in the spice aisle at the grocery store, I was very happy. It's crystalized lemon, and they come in individual packets (think sugar packets). It's just lemon and that's it, but it's in a powdered form (they also make orange, lime, and grapefruit, along with some lemonade drink mixes). There is no added sugar, nothing. No calories. I add two packets of the stuff to a large glass of water and I'm happy. And, truthfully, I think it tastes even better than squeezing a lemon wedge into my water.

It's also really great for cooking. One of my favorite pasta dishes is spaghetti with a dash of garlic powder, some olive oil, pine nuts, some roasted red peppers, and feta. And it's even better with lemon juice.

In the last couple years I've had a hard time finding the product in stores. I can find the lemonade products fine, but not the basic lemon. But I recently bought 500 packets online for around $35 and shipping was free. That will last me probably four months at least.

Anyway. It's a relatively small US business and I think it's a fantastic product. It helps me drink more water without adding calories or chemicals. So I think it's great.
