Every now and again I realize how much Diet Coke I really drink in a day, and I make a conscious effort to cut back.
I reached that point late last week, when I realized that I had just purchased 48 cans of soda in the last week and a half and they were almost gone. I tend to only drink two cans a day at work (which still feels like a lot considering when I started my career I maybe drank one, over lunch), but then I'll come home and have three more. That's just WAY too much.
I know I should be drinking more water, but I hate water. The only way I like it is with lemon, so at restaurants I'll order it that way. At home, I almost never have lemons. I used to buy this fantastic product called True Lemon. It's crystalized lemon in individual packets. You get 32 packets per box and I would use two packets per large glass of water, so it lasted me a long time. Now, I can't find that product anywhere. I did find a True Lemon lemonade mixer, but it's not the same.
So I went to the store and bought lemons and I'm making the effort. We'll see how long it lasts. Usually I go until I realize that I don't even think about drinking Diet Coke anymore, and I'll ease back into it. A month later, I'm back where I started.
Plus, mason jars full of lemons and water is pretty. What is it about mason jars that makes them so endearing?
