Friday night Doris and I went to dinner as a Steal Restaurant nearby. The Chef/Owner had come into control and ownership due to the death of the previous owner. I had never been too impressed by the place during the previous incarnation. That all changed with this visit. Doris and I shared a porterhouse steak that was cooked to perfection at Medium rare. It melted into our mouths and it just had just the right amount of char. Service was informed and cheerfully done with our needs anticipated. The real revelation came with the two added sides we ordered. First was a Sweet Potato fry which never had been a favorite of mine. These were extraordinary cut steak style, obviously home made and seasoned to perfection. . The other side was baked Brussels Sprouts sautéed in an onion and bacon juiced with bacon bits . Both sides were out of this world. We went back to my house for coffee and mini-berry cheese cakes from a local gourmet pastry shop and relaxed on my deck under the stars. I was sitting my tenant Athena's dog do Doris and I walked her down at the river for a nice interval. Back at the house was just as pleasant as the earlier evening events. Saturday and Sunday I managed to get all the weeding and plantings don in my yard. Sunday evening I relaxed on the deck and just felt happy with the day; the night and life in general. Over the weekend I also received invitations ( read Orders) for a Father's day BBQ at my son Toms house, and the following Sunday Pool Party-BBQ in Princeton NJ at my SIL's house. Both had been excepted and both are RSVPed.
