"Things go better with rock" - Autograph

So I survived last Friday at work with the 94 check ins. Barely. I ended up working an extra hour since the tour bus that was supposed to arrive by 10pm didn't show until 11:10pm. The whole shift was pure chaos.

What made it even more fun was that most of the guests were there for a championship wrestling tournament between 3 states of middle & high schooler's. One of the coaches had pre-requested a scale on the premises. Normally our fitness center has one but it is in the process of being replaced so we had none. Our sales manager snagged one from somewhere and had it set up behind the front desk counter for the wrestlers to use at their will. They had easy access to it and we were able to keep an eye on it/them to make sure it didn't get damaged.

Win/win right?

Ha! I had never felt so dirty in my life! What someone, anyone failed to mention was that these under-aged, minor CHILDREN would (and did!!) strip down to their underwear to weigh themselves. IN FRONT OF US!! I felt like the worst kind of pedophile! I teased Rick when I was leaving that night that I was going to stop by the police department to turn myself in. I hope I never have to go through anything like that again!

My Facebook status on June 3, 2014 ...

I do not want to meet anymore U.S. Marshall's tonight. So whoever is listening, please make sure the prostitute has checked out before I go in to work tonight. Mkay? Thanks! The 8599 steps (4.06 miles) last night is not a goal I want to beat tonight. Sassy's feet are tired.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love my job? lol

Monday night a "lady" checked in. I was warned at shift change about her "sob stories" and the lack of need on my part to help her out (she'd been helped as much as she was going to be helped). She kept coming and going over to the casino. She had a female companion with her. Apparently, they created a rukus over there which prompted the U.S. Marshall to come pay me a visit.

Long story short, he was wanting info on her and well, him & I came to a stale mate. Legally, I can't divulge any information about her. He knew this. I knew this. Yet, he was needing the info only I could give him since she was giving him conflicting information. He ended up calling his supervisor. I ended up calling Bob. The Marshall's supervisor said I had to turn over the info because the hotel is on sate owned property. Bob said I had to give up the info because, well, Joe was a U.S. Marshall, and even if we went the whole "you need a warrant for that information", they would have one produced in 3 - 5 minutes so really, there was no use in arguing. So Joe got his information and I was able to keep my job. Whew! Never a dull moment at this hotel LOL!

Oh, and for the record, I did end up beating the previous night's step count. Even though it was a quiet night, mentally, physically, not so much lol

The Child thinks it's neat/funny that I wear the pedometer at work. As soon as I walk through the door she is all, "How many steps did you take tonight?" lol

This is day # 3 of trying to write out this entry lol

Last night at work was ... what is the word I am looking for? Entertaining? Fun? Nerve wracking?

We had a storm roll in. As long as there are no tornado's, I do okay with storms. Not that I like them, mind now, but I can deal with them. Last Sunday we had one come through & it knocked out the power for about 6000+ patrons. We didn't lose power thank goodness but the hotel was one of those that did. For almost 3 hours. So, so thankful I wasn't working that night lol.

So last night Paul (new guy) and I put our heads together and came up with a game plan. We had everything ready to go so that we would be prepared if the hotel lost power. We had triplicates of paperwork, flashlights/lanterns ready to grab if needed. We informed guests at check-in what to do/where to go in the event of power loss or severe weather. We were ready! lol

We took our lunch breaks so that they would be done with before the storm hit (thank you The Weather Channel App for all the push notifications lol).

As I was outside for one last smoke before my break was over, I looked up from my iPhone and damn ....

So then I walked a few feet to the west/back of the hotel ...

So then I turned around and took a pic of the north ...

Uh, yeah.

Luckily it was just rain & thunder & some lightening. No power outages thank goodness. Although, we could have done without the paranoid woman freaking out in the lobby. But we kept her calm and from creating a mass panic. It was chaotic with people pulling in off the roads to get a room because of the storm. But all in all, I survived and that is what is most important lol.

After the worst of the storm had come through ...

One of these days I will write an entry that has nothing to do with work. I promise lol. Right now, life is good and I have no complaints.

We are heading to St. Louis, MO in 2 weeks to meet up with the In-Laws to give them The Child. Then we go to Ohio on July 3 (arrive on the 4th) to visit with Hubby's family & then bring her back with us on The 12th. Thanks to my job, I was able to get all of our hotel stays for $29 a night at each of the hotels we will be stopping at. Yay us! lol

Okay, think I will go take a nap. I'll leave you with one more picture I took of the storm last night as it rolled in. I was standing in front of the hotel, facing south.

Till next time ...

Wow those storm pics are crazy!!

LOL, wrestlers take their weight very serious no matter what their age is - so funny they were doing that without you expecting it, though! You'd think they would have asked for it to be moved into a little more discreet area haha. But, I understand you guys' logic for keeping it where you would know it wasn't being damaged or misused.

What a crazy eventful few nights!! And how many steps you take, wow!!! I wouldn't have guessed that many lol guess that shows how much you really do do aside from working the front counter!
