I hold the image of you, running in the Tucson sun.
Small and fierce. Already larger than the rest.
Willing to push beyond any barrier and doing so unknowingly. Unknowingly because you just were that…
Larger. Made so large that you broke all the walls of the house that they built for you. Broke them all with fire and sunlight and joy.
You were that.
Untamed and lovelier for it.
I see you in the spaces residing in between my days and the moments of action too.
A small, and strong trail of gold twisting and curving through the shattered parts of my and our life. You started to fill those spaces before I knew. Placing threads of gold in rooms long forgotten. You woke me to a world I had never seen and I am better for having had a moment of you here, with me.
Though I will never see you in this earthly form again, I will close my eyes and see the trails of gold that your love created in my world.
It will always be this, for me.
You.
